Oklahoma Adult Education & Literacy Conference: Game Changers

We will be at the Springlake Campus for MetroTech. The address is:

The Conference will be:

Monday, September 8 (Registration starts at 9:00 am-4:15 pm) and

Tuesday, September 9 (Registration starts at 8:30 am-3:30 pm).

This conference was designed for the following groups:

• Teachers

• Tutors

• Coordinators

• Administrators

• Adult Learners

The following scholarships are available:

• OLC Organization Member

• Conference Crew (those who plan and work behind-the-scenes)

• Adult Learner-enrolled in a literacy or CareerTech program.

• Presenter

The scholarship will cover your registration fee. Adult Learners, Presenters, and Conference Crew are guaranteed a scholarship. OLC Organizational Members will be awarded one scholarship.

Depending on the type of organization you belong to AND how far you are driving, the scholarship may include one or two nights at the hotel.

To apply for the scholarship, you will complete the conference registration form. When you get to the question about how you will pay, select Scholarship. Within two business days, you will receive an email that will tell you if you are receiving a scholarship. 

• There will be water, coffee and tea available all day, both days.

• There will be a variety of snacks available during the breaks.

• On Monday, we will have a Boxed Lunch:
  Served on soft sandwich roll. Includes pickle spear, sea-salt chips, and cookie
  Option 1: Turkey, provolone, romaine lettuce, Roma tomato, shaved red onion
  Option 2: Ham, cheddar, romaine lettuce, Roma tomato, shaved red onion
  Option 3: Hummus, cucumber, crumbled feta, romaine lettuce, Roma tomato, shaved red onion

• On Tuesday, 

If you need a special diet, such as vegetarian, please be sure to mention it on your registration form.

At check-in, you will receive a meal ticket. At lunchtime, you will take the ticket to the table marked as Special Meals. It will be next to the entrance to the Cafe. Someone will be there to give you your meal.

We have rooms reserved at the state rate for CareerTech and DOC. They have a limited number of rooms available at the state rate. We have reserved all of them. If you plan to stay there at the state rate or the discounted OLC rate, we will need to make your reservation.

For everyone else, the rate will be $149(+tax)/night, unless included in a scholarship. To get this special rate, OLC MUST make your reservation. To make a reservation, register here.

Overflow will be at the Residence Inn at 3151 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. A parking lot separates the hotels.

Yes!

Lunches are up to 90 minutes.

Monday morning, arrive early to network before the conference officially begins at 10:00 am.

Be comfortable. Most presenters will be wearing business casual. Most attendees will be wearing jeans.

You will be in a variety of differently sized rooms. Layers are always a good idea.

We will be publishing the schedule once we have all of the presenters lined up. 

This conference is a joint effort between CareerTech's Adult Education & Family Literacy Division (AEFL) and Oklahoma Literacy Coalition (OLC).

Yes, when you are registering, you will have the option to pay by:

• Debit or Credit Card, or

• Purchase Order

If you choose to pay with a PO, the registration form will ask for the PO number and for you to either upload the PO or email it to us.

There will be a stack of agendas on the registration table. Take one and fill out your contact information. After each session, take it to the room assistant. The room assistant will stamp the class you just completed. There will be a box on the registration table for you to return the form. You will receive a pdf certificate of your contact hours within two weeks.
